EC3 heat power plant successfully commissioned

Full-load operation scheduled for November 2008 – reduction of CO2 emissions by approximately 40,000 metric tons annually

Brzeg Dolny, October 2008 – Construction works on the new coal and biomass-fired heat power plant EC3 on the site of PCC Rokita SA in Brzeg Dolny have been completed. The steam boilers have already been put into operation. Cleaning works (so-called boiler blow-through) have been carried out on the pressure segments of both boilers at a pressure of 60 bar, a temperature of 400 degrees Celsius and a steam output of 60 t/h. These operational parameters are currently being gradually stepped up. The power plant has already been connected to the public grid. Full-load operation is expected to be reached at the beginning of November. The new power plant will be connected to the grid with a capacity of 14 MW of power and 80 MW of heat, reducing CO2 emissions by 40,000 tons annually. Owing to the installation of highly efficient technology PCC received EU subsidies for this project as mentioned in our quarterly report for Q1, 2007.
