PCC Thorion GmbH is part of the globally active PCC Group with a total of around 3,300 employees. PCC SE is the holding company of the international PCC Group headquartered in Duisburg, Germany. As a growth-oriented and innovative group of companies, we have core competences in the production of chemical commodities and speciality chemicals. PCC Thorion GmbH is developing new silicon-based battery materials at its Freiburg site in collaboration with Fraunhofer ISE, ALU Freiburg and the University of Duisburg-Essen.

For the ongoing work in process development and scale-up, we are looking to strengthen our team at the Haid-Haus site in Freiburg with a master’s student with a high level of commitment and a wide range of interests, initially as a student assistant for up to 20 hours per week with subsequent master’s thesis. Student assistant with subsequent Master’s thesis (m/f/d) process and material development – battery materials

What tasks await you:
  • Participate in the planning and execution of experiments for process and material development by spraydrying
  • Analysis of the most important influencing variables and determination of characteristic values
  • Data preparation, analysis and statistical evaluation of measurement results
  • Deduction of general learnings and creation of basic models for process development and scaling
  • Further development of standards and templates within the framework of technical quality management
  • Support in the area of innovation management, e.g. by carrying out and preparing literature and patent research
What you offer:
  • Technical or scientific studies, e.g. Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Engineering Sciences
  • High degree of initiative and independent working skills
  • Ability to work in a team and interest in interdisciplinary project work
  • Motivation to take on responsible tasks in a dynamic company
  • First experience in a laboratory environment, with experimental planning (e.g. Design of Experiment) or in spraydrying
