Duisburg, October 2017 PCC employee Justus Preiss (21) has become the second of our apprentices to receive the IHK’s (Chamber of Commerce) award for best graduate. In January 2017, Justus Preiss completed his apprenticeship as a wholesale and export manager at PCC SE, garnering the “top of the class” accolade in the process. His first place among his cohorts was duly recognized at the award ceremony held by the Lower Rhine Chamber of Commerce in Duisburg on October 1, 2017. Preiss began his training in August 2014 and is currently employed in the marketing department of the Group holding company at the PCC site in Duisburg.

At its annual ceremony held in Duisburg’s “Theater am Marientor”, the IHK honored a total of 102 apprentices for their outstanding achievements as “Best In Year” for 2017. IHK president Burkhard Landers personally congratulated the winning graduates on their exceptional performance: “You belong to the top three percent of over 4,500 young adults from the city of Duisburg and the Kleve and Wesel districts who successfully completed their IHK finals in the last academic year. I am therefore delighted to express to you both our respect and our recognition for your achievements.”

Ulrike Warnecke, Managing Director of PCC SE, whose departmental responsibilities include Human Resources, commented: “We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our colleague Mr Preiss on attaining this exceptional honour and our pleasure at having such an outstanding individual in our employ. We place great importance on developing our young people and are proud that, following 2015, one of our apprentices has once again been recognized by the Lower Rhine Chamber of Commerce as ‘Best In Year’.” PCC specifically offers additional tuition in selected subjects such as English in order to prepare its up-and-coming staff for a career in the internationally aligned company group.

Justus Preiss expressed his delighted at receiving the accolade: “I always try to be among the best, but to have been awarded ‘Best In Year’ fills me with particular pride. Needless to say, I owe much of this success to the support I have had from the company that trained me. The tuition I received from PCC during my apprenticeship could not have been better. While I was able to gain experience in all the departments of PCC SE, I found working in the marketing department particularly enjoyable. So I am really pleased that it is this department that has taken me on. The wide variety of tasks and the many different projects make working here a lot of fun.”
