Duisburg/Niederkassel, February 10, 2020. A public information meeting held by PCC SE on its planned investment project – the construction of a production plant for ethylene oxide (EO) and several facilities for the manufacture of EO derivatives and downstream products in Lülsdorf (Niederkassel) near Cologne ¬– met with keen interest. On Saturday, February 8, 2020, around 300 people attended the event in the main restaurant (“Casino”) of the chemicals complex operated by Evonik Industries AG, the future viability of which site is expected to benefit from the PCC project. PCC had invited the local residents to the event in order to inform them about the project in advance of any steps leading to its realization.

Ulrike Warnecke, Managing Director of PCC SE, introduced the audience to PCC as an owner-managed group of companies and long-term investor. Dr. Peter Wenzel, Head of Corporate Development at PCC SE, explained details of the project, which is at the examination phase. Dr. Wenzel emphasized that the planned facilities would meet the highest safety standards for the production and processing of EO as well as those applicable to infrastructure issues. The mayor of Niederkassel, Stephan Vehreschild, also said a few words of welcome to the residents. The speakers from Evonik were Dr. Arndt Selbach, head of the Evonik site, and Michele Agusta, Chair of the Works Council.

After the speeches, many guests used the opportunity to put their own questions directly to the people of responsibility and experts in a Q&A session. Refreshments were then made available, with further personal discussions ensuing.
