The production plant for ultra-pure monochloroacetic acid (MCAA), which went into operation in 2016, significantly extends the value chain of the Chlorine segment, because it utilizes as an input the chlorine which we produce ourselves. It also enables a backward integration, as MCAA serves as a raw material for the betaine production of our Surfactants segment. Ultra-pure MCAA is used as an intermediate primarily in the manufacture of body care products, but also in the agricultural, food, and pharmaceutical industries.

Principal:PCC MCAA Sp. z o.o.
Location:Factory site of PCC Rokita SA in Brzeg Dolny (Poland)
Capacity:50,000 metric tons of ultra-pure MCAA per year
Project status:The commissioning phase of the MCAA plant was completed at the end of 2016 with an initial annual capacity of 42,000 metric tons. Then the regular delivery of high-purity MCAA to key customers started and in 2017 the product qualification to other clients was pushed forward. In 2018, the efficiency of the plant was significantly improved through process optimization and, at the same time, the capacity was increased to 50,000 metric tons to meet growing customer demand and to further improve competitiveness. In 2019, the production process and the input factors were further optimized.
