Duisburg/Gdynia (Poland), August 21, 2020. Since the beginning of the third quarter, the volumes in the intermodal transport sector have risen continuously and are now back at the pre-corona level. From August, PCC Intermodal S.A. offers a total of 21 train connections per week between Poland and Western Europe (in the direction of Rotterdam, Antwerp, Duisburg, and Hamburg). The utilization of these trains is over 80% and thus reaches the exceptionally good values before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Within Poland, too, the intermodal transport business is picking up speed again, partly due to the increasing number of container trains and vessels from the Far East. The investments in new container platforms that were decided on before the outbreak of the pandemic and that will be fully delivered by the end of this quarter are therefore already beginning to pay off. In addition, PCC Intermodal S.A. invests this year also in additional reach stackers and tractor units. Our subsidiary also launched tenders for the purchase of additional locomotives. With these investments, the sustainable growth of our intermodal transport business will be further strengthened.
