Duisburg (Germany)/Kutno (Poland), May 2016. PCC Intermodal S.A. is expanding its container transport network with a new route between Poland and China. Saturday, April 30, 2016 saw the first scheduled block train depart the PCC terminal on its virgin journey from Kutno in Poland to Chengdu in the Chinese province of Sichuan. With a total distance of almost 10,000 km to cover, the travel time for the 26 wagons – laden with a total of 41 40-foot containers – is around eleven days.

This new scheduled route means that the PCC container terminal has gained further importance. “For Chinese companies, Kutno is destined to become a key gateway to the European market,” declares Dariusz Stefański, CEO of PCC Intermodal S.A. Kutno is located at the intersection of major international transport routes both from east to west and from the Baltic Sea to the Adriatic. Goods arriving in Kutno from China in future will be distributed throughout Europe via the network of routes operated by PCC Intermodal S.A.

The launch celebration was attended by more than 100 guests – including the Party Secretary of the Province of Sichuan, Wang Dongming, and the Deputy Mayor of Chengdu, Liu Shoucheng, accompanied from the Polish side by, among others, Director of Łódź Customs Office, Kazimierz Gołygowski. Province Secretary Wang Dongming gave the signal for the train to depart. Customs Office Director Kazimierz Gołygowski presented PCC Intermodal S.A.’s CEO Stefański with an official document confirming the opening of a bonded storage area on the site of the Kutno container terminal. During the celebrations, the partners from China also announced the official opening in Poland of a representative office for the city of Chengdu.
