Duisburg, November 30, 2017. PCC SE has donated 15,000 euros in support of the “PlusPunktDU” project run by the Kinderschutzbund OV Duisburg e.V. (Duisburg Child Protection Association). The purpose of the project is to provide advice and support to girls and young mothers from difficult social and family backgrounds within Duisburg wishing to enter into training and the world of work. With the donation from PCC SE, the project will be able to continue for another year. Ulrike Warnecke, Managing Director of PCC SE, presented the check to Gerhild Tobergte, Chairwoman of the Duisburg Child Protection Association, today at the association’s premises. The donation serves to further underline PCC SE’s social engagement in the environs of the Group’s Duisburg headquarters.
“We are pleased to be able to support the Duisburg Child Protection Association in this important project, not least because the PlusPunktDU project is an extraordinary example of positive forward thinking,” says PCC executive Ulrike Warnecke. “Through it, young mothers receive a new form of professional guidance that provides them – and thus also their children – with a self-driven perspective on life independent of state welfare.” The declared aim of PlusPunktDU is to ensure that as many children as possible get strong and independent mothers as role models. To this end, the young mothers are placed in internships and apprenticeships, receive application training, skills development and advice on financial and family challenges, and are supported in their everyday working life.
PCC SE has been strengthening its social engagement for years – both at its Group headquarters in Duisburg and internationally. Since 2003, for example, PCC SE has been the main sponsor of the now fifth-tier (“Oberliga”) men’s soccer club VfB Homberg e.V. and the name sponsor of the PCC stadium. Internationally, PCC SE is also active in Africa on behalf of orphans and supports the non-governmental organization AOHM Amani Orphans’ Home Mbigili in Tanzania.
In Poland, PCC subsidiaries such as PCC Rokita SA and PCC Exol SA have garnered several international ranking awards in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
