The aim in this upgrade project was to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions in chlorine production through the use of environmentally compatible membrane technology. The upgrade has also enabled us to increase production capacity. Membrane electrolysis plant 1 was successfully taken into service in March 2010. Then, in spring 2015, we completed the switchover to this advanced process with the commissioning of membrane electrolysis plant 2.
